Commission Member Comments

2:39 PM Action: Commissioner Trochet addressed the Commission regarding an epidemic of Whooping Cough (Pertussis) in California. There have been seven deaths of children under the age of two months. Parents, siblings and grandparents are spreading the disease. This is a vaccine preventable disease and Dr. Trochet encouraged everyone who is around babies to get a booster shot.

Commissioner Wagstaff advised the Commission about the enhanced reimbursement rates that were awarded to all states by the Stimulus. These rates affect Medicaid, IHSS, Title IV, and Foster Care and are due to expire in December. Many statewide organizations are involved in the effort of getting these rates extended or for a gradual phase down over a period of time.

8.

Public Comments on Non-Agenda Matters

2:42 PM Action: None.
